Paint it! series

The Ready to Paint series from Search Press has gone from strength to strength and its use of pre-printed tracings to allow readers to get on with the painting process straight away has proved popular. It’s understandable, therefore, that they would seek to get as much mileage from the format as possible and this new spin-off offers just one demonstration of a single subject. As an introduction, a publicity puff, perhaps, that’s fine, but I can’t help feeling that, as a product offered for sale, it’s a reductio ad absurdum. There’s also the price. At £8.99, the original volumes are hardly expensive and I doubt that, even in these straitened times, many people are having trouble saving up for one. However, £3.99 for a single shot is the equivalent of nearly £20 for the main book and that’s patently ridiculous.

Of course, I may be wrong. People buy partworks, after all. No, hang it, I’m not wrong, £3.99 is too much.
