Techniques of Traditional Icon Painting || Gilles Weissmann

I’m really not qualified to say whether this book is any good, but the results look convincing enough to me. Whether it has a market in the UK, I couldn’t say. It’s a workmanlike translation from the French and reads as such, though I don’t suppose that would worry someone who is looking for this kind of book – it being just about the only one there is.

There are plenty of instructions, illustrations and demonstrations, though I would urge you to try to see the book for yourself as I rather felt that the demonstrations weren’t as complete as some I’ve seen and that I didn’t get the same sense of progression I usually do from Search Press (this not being one of their originals, after all).
